You’ve decided you’re ready to get married, you’ve found the love of your life and you’ve finalised the date you want to tie the knot. Now, all that is left to do is invite your near and dear ones. Of course, you’re going to call and tell them the good news, but most people tend to forget dates. So, we all resort to save the date cards and images on WhatsApp. To make yours memorable, special and a notch apart, here are some fun and unique save the date ideas that you can use or take inspiration from!




Be the star of your invite



You and your husband-to-be can take come cute pictures together, which with a little editing here and there can be sent out as save the date pictures. It could be written in the sand on the beach, you both could be holding placards with the date in a park, it could be a photobooth picture of the two of you or maybe just a picture of you both with the date in the corner.

Better yet, make your pet the star of your invite



If you and your husband-to-be are both pet lovers, then why not make your pet the star of the save the dates? Just hang the placard around the neck of the pet or make them pose next to it. Put on a cute little bow tie on your dog’s collar for some added cuteness.

Why shouldn’t your guests have all the fun



These can’t be sent on WhatsApp, but they’re worth sending by post. Scratch the date invites – Just like you have to scratch a lottery ticket, your guests will have to scratch these to reveal the date. Or, you can write the date in invisible ink and have your guests look for it. Maybe an easy crossword puzzle which reveal the dates and venue! It could even be a small six-piece jigsaw puzzle which your guests have to put together to reveal the date.

Did some say punny?



Did you fall in love with a man that can make you laugh? Then spread the laughter and joy with funny wedding cards. It could have a heading like ‘Open bar on 01.02.03’ followed by a small save the date message. If you met on tinder or a matrimonial website, you could put your profile pictures with the heading ‘it’s a match’ and send those out as save the date invites. Maybe some pun humour? Act as if the date is falling off somewhere and you’re grabbing on to save it. Literally, save the date! It all depends on your sense of humour!

Just keep it simple! Sometimes, the most memorable save the dates are those classy and elegant ones which stand out because of their simplicity. If you’re planning on having a grand elegant wedding, then make sure your save the dates follow suit. Choose simple colour palettes like baby pink and grey, navy blue and black, ivory and gold and so on. Make sure it looks refined and anything but stuffy!
