Resham was born in the green and hilly suburbs of Uganda, while Soham was born in the ever-bustling city of Mumbai after which he moved to Gambia. After spending their childhood in Africa, both Resham and Soham decided to make the move to England, which is where their love story started. The couple met through a mutual friend, which is when they hit it off and everything after that was just a blur of love! The couple decided to tie the knot in Antalya, Turkey in April.
The couple invited just their closest friends and family, which included guests from over 23 countries! Talk about a grand destination wedding, Resham and Soham’s wedding had everything from belly dancers to flamethrowers, from live singers to stellar sangeet performances.
The couple had quite a few wedding functions. It all started with a cocktail party, followed by a day mehendi and a Bollywood themed sangeet, a day wedding with the backdrop of the Mediterranean Sea and finally a masquerade reception.
Each function had its own theme! The cocktail night was the Turkish night, the dress code allowed the guests to wear anything as long as they adorned some Turkish accessories. The venue was decorated in hues of purple and blue. The day mehendi dress code was mela-influenced outfits, and the vibrant decor fit the theme perfectly. The sangeet was Bollywood themed, since the couple knew that their international guests would absolutely love that! There were film posters, a red carpet entry and video reels for decor – truly in sync with a Bollywood night. The day wedding was along a pier, with shades of light pink and fresh flowers as decor. Resham made her entrance under a floral canopy while Soham made his entrance in a pink vintage convertible! And finally, the reception had a stunning masquerade theme; the women wore ball gowns, the men wore tuxedos and everyone had to wear a masquerade mask of their choice. How amazing does that even sound?
The couple planned everything themselves, with some help from their families of course!
How can the couple choose just one favourite event? With belly dancers for entertainment at the cocktail, a view of the Mediterranean Sea while taking their pheras and a masquerade theme reception to celebrate, it’s safe to say that each and every function was just so memorable, making it incredibly hard to pick just one favourite!
